The higher representative for the foreign policy in the European Union Javier Solana expressed in statements he made in Njamina his wonder over the renewed cycle of violence in Darfur, calling for calm.
Solana has called on all sides, including the rebels, to halt these attacks which aim at "terrifying the citizens " and to concentrate on the peace negotiations in the Nigerian capital Abuja.
He considered that "the responsibility of the government of Khartoum is to guarantee a constructive performance by all including the rebels, calling on the African Union to continye providing security in Darfur in collaboration with the international community.
